STAR SWORD CLUB CONSTITUTION

1. NAME

The name of the club will be Star Sword Club and it will have amateur status.
      
2. OBJECT

The object of the club will be to promote the sport of fencing.
      
3. SAFETY & CHILD PROTECTION

Every club member, or person/s actively engaged in any club activity, must accept and comply with all current BFA Child Protection requirements and Safety policies.
   
4. MEMBERSHIP
   
    4.1 Admission to membership will be at the discretion of the Officers.
   
    4.2 The following classes of membership will exist,
   
     (a) Full Senior Members - full club members over 18 years of age
     
     (b) Full Junior Members - full club members under 18 years of age
   
     (c) Honorary Members - members who have been so appointed at an AGM, or a meeting expressly called for that purpose.
   
    4.3 Removal from membership will be at the discretion of the Officers.
   
5. ADMINISTRATION

    5.1 The Officers of the Club will be:

    5.2 All Officers will be elected at the Annual General Meeting and will hold office until the next Annual General Meeting, when they will retire, but will be eligible for re-election. The exception to this will be in the institution of a new club where there are no members to hold a meeting. In these circumstances the Chairperson can appoint Officials who will hold office until a meeting can be held.
   
    5.3 An Auditor will be appointed annually by the Annual General Meeting.
   
    5.4 The affairs of the Club will be administered by the Officers.
    
                     

6. MEETINGS
   
    6.1 AGM
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held every year during the month of February, to appoint the Officers for the coming year, and to receive the annual financial statement of the club, and to discharge club business. Only full adult members may vote at meetings. At all meetings the votes of the treasurer and secretary each count as 2 and the vote of the Chairperson 4.
   
    6.2 OTHER MEETINGS

Formal meetings may be called by the Club Secretary or Chairperson as necessary to discharge club business, or on receipt of a request for a formal meeting, signed by not less than 30% of the Full Members. The Secretary will arrange for reasonable notice to be given to all Full Members. Only Full Adult members may vote at meetings.
       
   
7. SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subscription rates will be decided at the Annual General Meeting.
   
   
8. WELSH FENCING (WF)

The club will be affiliated to Welsh Fencing (WF) and the British Fencing Association.
   
   
9. CONSTITUTION

The constitution may only be altered at an Annual General Meeting, or a meeting expressly called for that purpose.  Amendments to the constitution will take effect immediately. Amendments to the constitution can only be carried by a two-thirds majority.
   
   
10. DISSOLUTION

The club may be dissolved by a 2/3 majority of the Full Members at a meeting expressly called for that purpose and only after any debts and liabilities have been settled.    

  1. Any property, assets, or funds that remain, identified as arising directly or indirectly from funding from WF, the Sports Council for Wales, Local/Regional government or any related or similar body shall pass to WF, who may re-assign them for the purpose of the furtherance of fencing in Wales, at their discretion.
  2. Any property, assets, of funds that remain, identified as arising directly or indirectly from the club itself, such as membership subscriptions, etc., shall be taken into trust by WF pending the formation of another club in the area.

STAR SWORD MEMEBER'S CONSTITUTION

Full members of Star Sword Club are expected to comply with the following constitution.

1. PAYMENT OF FEES

Fees should be paid either via standing order, or at the beginning of each session, before the warm-up begins.

2. PUNCTUALITY

Members are expected to arrive a few minutes early to sessions in order to pay fees, get changed, make challenges, and request individual lessons. This ensures that the session starts on time and everyone warms-up properly. Those arriving late will be at the bottom of the list for challenge fights and individual lessons.

3. BEHAVIOUR

Members are required to be polite and sporting at all times. This includes:

  • No swearing (especially considering there are children in the club)
  • Throwing masks/weapons will not be tolerated
  • No arguing, any disputes should be brought to the attention of the committee, or dealt with outside of training.
  • Always salute and shake hands with opponents and referees.
  • Don't hog equipment or coaching resources. Be considerate of other members.

4. PERSONAL PRESENTATION

Members are expected to keep their personal equipment washed and in good condition. Clothing should be appropriate to the sport and should not include logos/legends that other members may find offensive.
